In the summer of 1970, Paul Newman and his production company traveled to Lincoln County to film Ken Kesey’s Sometimes a Great Notion. Long-time locals are still talking about it.
On Saturday, August 8 in Toledo, Writers on the Edge will stage a unique literary and cinematic event, “An Evening with Sometimes a Great Notion—the Movie.” Hosted by author Matt Love, who is writing a book about the making of the film, the event will feature a slide show presentation, a photography exhibit, an opportunity to share personal stories, and a rare public screening of the movie.
“I think this will be one of the premier and innovative cultural events in Oregon this year,” said Love. “I hope everyone who has a story about the film attends and brings along their photographs, home movies and memorabilia.”
